holiday in romania

i’m still recovering from the weekend and not up to much today, but there’s a piece of information i wanted to share with someone (if that someone happens to hit my website by chance).
for those of you who were into punk music in the eighties this might be an interesting tidbit, all the others, head for the trees.
i wasn’t very much into punk in my teens, but a lot of my friends were and at parties and meetings it was unavoidable to run into some of the same music over and over again. one of the more obnoxious bands at that time were the “dead kennedys” (i can remember, jamma, you were disgusted by the idea of someone calling their band “dead kennedys”, but hey, that’s what punk was all about).

now last week when grischa, me and our friend benji were holding our daily laptop sit-in around our kitchen table, benji came up with a web page of a guy who covers dead kennedys tunes. on his accordion. i shit you not.
i thought this would probably be terrible, but i was corrected. that guy is unbelievable. he plays a devilish accordion and sings, well, he sings just like jello biafra. when i heard the first song i was sure that guy had somehow gotten hold of the old dead kennedys vocal tracks. oh, i should mention he calls himself duckmandu, and the record which covers the dead kennedys album “fresh fruit for rotting vegetables” is called “fresh duck for rotting accordionists”. check it if you have some fond memories of the punk era. it’s fun.

yeah, i was pretty much a pink-faced little innocent when i washed up on your shores but you all did a pretty good job of expanding my horizons. by the end, i’d've given anything to get my hands on one of those cute little punk boyz, hee hee
