the proclamation

folks, we have confirmed a broken toe. clean through at the upper joint. the doctor says this will take about four weeks to heal and about half a year to be completely pain free, which i find hard to believe, but that’s what he says.
it was hard enough to get an appointment at such short notice, we were supposed to be there before dawn and the practice was already crowded.

i’m pissed off considerably because i have just booked our apartment on the dutch shore for the weekend after next and i would love to take a couple of nice walks on the beach with my man without having to carry him piggy-back.
i had still hoped the toe might just be sprained, but it seems luck was really against us.
so we’ll probably spend our days mostly indoors eating pancakes and drinking hot chocolate, the thought of which almost wins me over again. november is really at its best at the moment anyway, cold and wet and leached of all color. i might enjoy snuggling inside, watching the fog roll in from the sea.
