a hint of orange pt. II

ladies and gentlemen, we have achieved a yellow kitchen wall. for those of you who missed part I of this story, you can go back and read it here if you care.

just for the effect, the putrid pink base coat. the pictures don’t do the ugliness of that color justice. it was far worse in real life.

it was fun to see that pallid visceral pink disappear under a coat of warm, bright, friendly, sunny yellow with a hint of orange. we ended up doing two coats of yellow to make sure nothing of that pink would show in even the brightest sunlight, completely splotched everything we wore and painted a little of the ceiling that wasn’t meant to get painted at all, but i think we can fix that.

we installed the new outlets already and the color matches perfectly.
i think i’ll just sit in this kitchen now and let the happiness of this color seep into me. it’s so amazingly yellow. it’s yellow cab yellow. really, it’s ultra-yellow. grischa said if yves klein had been painting in yellow all these years instead of in ultramarine blue, this yellow would be called yves klein yellow now. oh, don’t listen to me, i’m drunk with yellow. with a hint of orange.
